Arya was the daughter of famous sitarist Pandit Nikhil Banerjee. She is best known for her character ” Shakeela” in the movie The Dirty Picture. It was revealed that she was an alcohol addict and many empty bottles were received from her apartment after her death. Arya did her schooling at a reputed school in Bengal. She completed her master’s degree in music in Hindustani classical vocal.
