It’s chaos. The world is grim and the only thing that can be seen is hatred. That was the opening video of “BDZ” by TWICE. TWICE, coming back again with their Japanese song, released a song titled “BDZ.” BDZ is their first studio album that was released on September 12th, 2018. The album has five tracks that have been released before and five new songs including “BDZ.”

Background of “BDZ”

The song “BDZ” was first announced at TWICE 2nd Tour: Twiceland Zone on June 3rd, 2018, in Osaka. “BDZ” was pre-released on August 16th, 2018 along with the music video. Later, on September 12th, the full album of BDZ was released to the public.

Story of “BDZ”

“BDZ,” also known as bulldozer, is a song about TWICE hoping to grow like a bulldozer that is strong and tough. The song itself was produced by Park Jin Young, and the lyrics were written by Park Jin Young or JYP, Shoko Fujibayashi, and Yu Shimoji. Tony Maserati acted as the mixing engineer for “BDZ.” The lyrics of “BDZ” imply someone loving like a bulldozer that is gonna steal a person’s heart and make them let down their guard so that the person can accept their love. It also tells that they will do what they can to tell the person of their love and to not regret that decision. The part where TWICE sings “Let’s go, let’s go” also became a fanchant that TWICE and ONCE sing together at their concerts.

MV of “BDZ”

The beginning of the MV is narrated by Sana. She says that the world was a happy place with Lovely, but, one day, Lovely is locked away by some evil and the world becomes chaos without Lovely. TWICE then makes a plan to save Lovely in order to make the world a better place that is full of love. The journey of TWICE to save Lovely begins with Jeongyeon surveilling the members trying to get past the guard in order to save Lovely. One by one of the guards are distracted by the members’ tactic until they all can save Lovely who is locked up. Same as the song, the MV of “BDZ” was pre-released on August 16th, 2018. The MV gained 2M views in the first 18 hours after release and got 294 thousand likes in 16 hours. Just like other TWICE MVs, BDZ was also directed by Naïve Studio Creative Production.
