She is a chef in SNSD and Oh!GG, because she is really good at cooking. Besides making daily vlog content, Yuri has also created a cooking program titled Yuri’s Table (Yuri’s Winning Recipe) and invites other artists as guest stars. Yuri has an older brother, his name is Kwon Hyukjun. Among the Oh!GG or SNSD members, Yuri is the only member who has tanned skin. Kim Mingu is Hyoyeon’s younger brother. DJ Hyo is her solo stage name. She is called the Dancing Machine because of her dancing skills. When she was 11, she auditioned for SM Entertainment through the SM 2000 Casting System. She has a different taste in music which is opposite to SNSD’s, she likes Hip-Hop, Jazz, and Electronic Dance. Sunny was born in Los Angeles, but she later moved to Kuwait. She has two sisters, named Lee Jinkyu and Lee Eunkyu. Sunny is the niece of SM Entertainment President, Lee Sooman. In 1998, Sunny joined SM Academy named Starlight Entertainment and almost debuted as a member of a duo, namely Sugar, but the duo didn’t debut. Before her alleged debut with Sugar, she was a trainee for five years. Sunny is the 4th member whose debut teaser photo was revealed. She can imitate Tiffany’s smile. She has a phobia of fireworks explosions. In 2007 she joined SM Entertainment and was a trainee for a few months before debuting with SNSD. Oh!GG’s Debut
Before this unit has formed, the main group SNSD lost three members, namely Tiffany, Sooyoung, and Seohyun. The three of them decided to leave SM on October 9th, 2017, and pursue a solo career in acting and singing. Seohyun signed a contract with Namoo Actors, Sooyoung moved to Echo Global, while Tiffany is a singer under the global agency that is Paradigm Talent Agency. Because of that, SNSD (Girls’ Generation) went on hiatus but did not disband. Then, on August 2nd, 2018, SM Entertainment announced that they will form a new unit of SNSD. On August 27th, 2018, the agency revealed Oh!GG as the 2nd unit of Girls’ Generation and they debuted on September 5th, 2018. Oh!GG debuted by releasing their first single “Lil Touch” as the title track and “Fermata” as the B-side track. Unlike SNSD’s original debut, Oh!GG debuted with a sexy, mature, elegant, and slightly dark concept. The music is also easy listening and enjoyable. Here is the music video of “Lil Touch”.
Oh!GG Members’ Renewed Contracts
2020 was the last year of the contract period for the five members of this unit, Oh!GG. Before making a decision, Taeyeon, Yuri, Hyoyeon, Yoona, and Sunny had to discuss it together whether they wanted to stay under SM Entertainment or not. After discussing, on September 8th, 2020, SM Entertainment’s representative announced the results of Oh!GG members’ decision. In the announcement, SM Entertainment stated that the five Oh!GG members had renewed their contracts with the agency. Because of this news, their fans (Sone) felt happy and hoped that they would make their first comeback as a subunit, Oh!GG.
