Jaejin went to Seonyoo High School and Seoul Institute of Arts for his education necessity. He has an older sister who worked as an actress named Lee Chae-woon. He has the nickname Volunteer. Jaejin’s Debut with F.T. Island
Jaejin debuted as a member of pop-rock band F.T. Island in 2007, which was marked by the release of the album Cheerful Sensibility. Actually, the band originally debuted with five members, but two of them later left. Currently, F.T. Island consists only of Lee Jae-jin, Lee Hong-ki, and Choi Min-hwan. Meanwhile, Jaejin became the bassist and 2nd lead vocalist of the group. During their debut era, F.T. Island managed to gain a lot of recognition from people for their music, which brought them the opportunity to debut in Japan a year after their debut in South Korea. Their stage debut in South Korea was marked on M! Countdown in June 2007 by performing the single “Love Sick”. In the same year, F.T. Island won the Best New Boy Group Award and the Rookie of the Year Award as well!
F.T. Island went back and forth between Japan and South Korea, since their Japanese debut through Prologue of F.T. Island: Soyogi was huge. In 2009, Jaejin and other members were experiencing their first participation in lyrics composition. Jaejin became the co-writer of lyrics for the first time for the song “Moonlight Angel”. The band also had overseas schedules, such as autograph sessions in Malaysia, some Asian country tours, performances in America, and many more.
Active in F.T. Island’s Subunit F.T. Triple
Following the popularity of F.T. Island, FNC Entertainment decided to make a subunit of the original group named A3. It consisted of Lee Jae-jin, Choi Jong-hoon, and Choi Min-hwan. The name came up as a result of the fact that the three of them had ‘A’ as their blood type. The subunit made their debut in January 2009 through their performance in the My First Dream new year concert which was held in Japan. Basically, the subunit A3 was made with the purpose to take up some singing parts during F.T. Island’s concerts. It was also meant to help the main vocalist Lee Hong-ki to not overstrain his voice. In A3, Jaejin was in charge of the lead vocalist and bassist position, but eventually, he ended up working more with the guitar. The name A3 was changed in the late 2009s, and became F.T. Triple afterward. The group released the hit single “Love Letter” and went to several music shows to perform as well. One of the best live performances of F.T. Triple was in Music Bank where the three of them sung “Love Letter”.
