Can’t believe she’s so multi-talented! Soojin’s journey to be an idol, just like any other idol, was quite hard. She needed to attend a trainee’s schedule and school at the same time. Not to mention, the lessons she needed to take were a lot. She needed to learn to dance, sing, rap, and even act. All of the hard work that she did made her not realize the time flying. Her trainee period lasted for 4 years. It was quite a long time. But luckily, Soojin did not give up. She patiently waited for her debut day to come. Weeekly’s Soojin’s Pre-Debut

Now that we have seen some facts and even the profile of Lee Soojin, why don’t we see more things about her from her pre-debut era? You might be wondering why she ended up becoming a K-pop idol. It must be hard training to be an idol, especially if she trained when she was a student. She also debuted at a young age. So, when did she start being a trainee? Don’t worry, all your questions will be answered in the story of Soojin before she debuted with Weeekly. Check it out! Soojin or Lee Soojin was just a little girl from Seoul. She was born into a family that consists of her parents, an older sister, and Soojin as the youngest child. She was born in winter on December 12, 2001. When Soojin was younger, she didn’t dream to be a K-pop idol. In fact, she wanted to be an announcer, an astronomer, or a ballerina. That’s why Soojin learned to dance ballet when she was a child. Soojin was working so hard to be a good ballerina to the point that she won a competition. Soojin won first place in a ballet competition that she joined as part of a team. It seems like Soojin’s parents wanted her to explore a lot of things. Besides ballet, Soojin learned to play the violin when she was a child. No wonder she became a singer, she has been familiar with music even when she was young. The love for music for the young Soojin wasn’t only for the violin. She started to learn more about singing and even dancing as she grew older. Soojin attended a dance studio called DEF Skool Dance Academy where she learned more about modern dance, not only ballet. Due to her talent in ballet, Soojin didn’t really struggle as she learned dancing. That is probably what allowed her to be brave enough to join a K-pop audition. In 2016, Soojin passed the audition for a K-pop agency named LOEN Entertainment. This was the same agency as IU, one of the most popular Korean singers right now.

Weeekly’s Soojin in ‘MIXNINE’

A year after she officially became a trainee in 2017, Soojin was included in the lineup for Mixnine‘s contestants. It was a survival show which had over a hundred trainees from different K-pop agencies in Korea. Soojin represented Fave Entertainment, the subsidiary of LOEN Entertainment, along with other female trainees. However, there was bad news when Soojin’s agency released a statement about an accident involving three trainees of Fave Entertainment. When they were heading home, the car crashed and it caused the trainees inside to undergo surgery. Soojin had stomach surgery due to this accident. She also had to leave the show Mixnine even though she was the center of the theme song at that time. Soojin was talented when she performed on Mixnine. She showed her best performance and managed to make people love her. That’s why the departure of Soojin made fans angry. But still, as long as the girls received the treatment they deserved, what can we do about it? When Soojin was still unconscious, she dreamt she was performing as an idol on stage. She was so happy that she could finally perform, but it turned out to be just a dream. That’s why Soojin was relieved that her dream finally came true. She can dance and sing on stage as a member of Weeekly now. Congratulations, Soojin!     That’s a wrap! It was such a great time learning about Soojin from Weeekly. She has a pretty face just like an actress, but her talent as a singer and dancer is unquestionable, too. She might have trained and spent hard times for years before debuting, but at least she’s in a good place now. Which of her charms do you like the most?
