When he was 19, Geonu joined I-LAND and he passed the audition. Geonu was a trainee for a year and four months. He is a former contestant of Dancing High from 2018. In order to pursue his dream of becoming a singer, he dropped out of school and took the GED exam. He admitted that he has a ‘soft’ personality. Autumn is his favorite season. If he could become a movie character, he would be Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games movie. His biggest fear is of having bad health. When he performed “I NEED U” by BTS in I-LAND, it turned out that it was his last day as a contestant. Black is his favorite color. Geonu has had a very high spirit to pursue his dream of becoming a singer. He did a lot of practice to develop his skills, he entered competitions, and even enrolled in a music academy. JUST B’s Geonu as an I-LAND Contestant
I-LAND was a survival reality show that aired on Mnet from June 26th to September 18th, 2020. This show was organized by Belift Lab, a subsidiary of Big Hit Entertainment (now known as HYBE Labels), this label is a joint business between CJ E&M and HYBE Corporation. From this show, they debuted a new boy group named Enhypen. Geonu is a former contestant of this show, but unfortunately, he failed to get a chance to join Enhypen. Geonu, along with Kyungmin and Jaeho, performed “Chained Up” by VIXX in the first episode, and he passed with 86.4% votes. He kept trying, even though the scores and voting results sometimes made him enter the “ground”. Until finally, in Episode 8 Part 2, Geonu was eliminated with an individual score of 60.

Unable to debut with Enhypen, Geonu instead debuted with JUST B on June 30th, 2021. This group debuted under Bluedot Entertainment with 6 members, and they released the first album Just Burn and “DAMAGE” as the main track. On May 23rd, 2021, Geonu was the first member that was officially revealed and JUST B shared his photo with the profile. Meanwhile, his official photo for their first mini-album was shared on June 21st, 2021, being the last member.
