Woman with a Suitcase: Review

Woman With A Suitcase (캐리어를 끄는 여자) is a K-Drama that was aired on MBC starting from September 26th, 2016, to November 15th, 2016. This drama has a legal theme mixed up with some humor and comedy as it was created by Lee Jung-hwan, directed by Kang Dae-sun and Lee Jai-jin, written by Kwon Eum-mi. Woman With A Suitcase (캐리어를 끄는 여자) was a successful drama while it reached the highest rating on Episode 13 with 9.2% rating, Episode 15 with 8.2% rating, and the final Episode 15 with 8.2% rating. One day, Cha Geum-joo sends a short message to Ham Bok-geo saying that only she could help solve a case. Ham Bok-geo follows her but he doesn’t understand what is happening. Since then, Ham Bok-geo and Cha Geum-joo become friends. Shortly after, Cha Geum-joo is approached by the police and accused of cheating in a lawyer’s firm. She is accused of secretly investigating a case. Eventually, she is jailed for a year but is never visited by her husband and Park Hye-joo who is her adopted sister. During her time in prison, her husband makes a decision to divorce her because he has an affair with a woman who is pregnant with his child. Cha Geum-joo is also disappointed to find out that her adopted sister, Park Hye-joo continued her study abroad without any intention of seeing her. While looking for work, Cha Geum-joo sees a young lawyer and she offers to help him. Ma Suk-woo is happy to share thoughts with Cha Geum-joo. At the same time, a case is opened for Ham Bok-geo. He is accused of sexually harassing a female celebrity. Ham Bok-geo decides to ask Cha Geum-joo for help. After Ham Bok-geo’s case is successfully closed and he is found not guilty, Ham Bok-geo gives Cha Geum-joo a lawyer’s office just for her and asks Cha Geum-joo to retake the bar exam. And this is where the love and romance begin between them. Park Hye-joo becomes mean and disrespectful to Cha Geum-joo and she wants Ham Bok-geo to make her his girlfriend, but Ham Bok-geo only accepts Park Hye-joo as a friend.

Woman with a Suitcase: The Cast

Cha Geum-joo (played by Choi Ji-woo) is a paralegal and manager at a law firm (for your information, a paralegal is determined as someone who does law-related work, but they do not have the qualifications as a legal expert). In short, Cha Geum-joo is a definition of a woman who is successful materially and in terms of her career. But one day, she has to release the code of ethics because she gets into jail. This drama tells the story of Cha Geum-joo’s ups and downs to regain all her dreams after being hit by trials. Park Hye-joo (played by Jeon Hye-bin) is Cha Geum-joo’s stepsister who has a law firm named Golden Tree that was established together with her own stepsister. In the first episodes, the relationship between this sisters is going well because they work together, but knowing that Cha Geum-joo is getting closer with Ham Bok-geo is making Park Hye-joo become unhappy with the situation. Then, the relationship between the sisters starts getting complicated after Cha Geum-joo is released from jail and wants to see her sister. However, Park Hye-joo avoids her and doesn’t want to help her anymore. Ham Bok-geo (played by Joo Jin-mo) is a CEO from K-Fact who hires Cha Geum-joo to be his lawyer due to an unresolved incident that happens to him. On their first meeting, Cha Geum-joo says that his name is similar to “hamburger” and she makes up a nickname for him with that. During the time Cha Geum-joo is trying to solve the case, Ham Bok-geo also tries to get closer to her and that’s how they develop deeper feelings for each other. Ham Bok-geo is the main character in this drama and we can see his interaction and relationship with Cha Geum-joo. Ma Suk-woo (played by Lee Joon) is a young man that works as an attorney. Cha Geum-joo is currently working together with attorney Ma and she helps him solve the cases. Ma Suk-woo is an innocent person and also a good co-worker to Cha Geum-joo.
