Hello Venus

Hello Venus is a Korean girl-group under Fantagio Music, and they were formed by Tricell Media, which is a joint venture between Fantagio Music and Pledis Entertainment. Hello Venus was formed and debuted on May 9, 2012, with their first mini-album, called Venus. Their title track had the same name. The group had six members, Alice, Nara, Lime, Yoora, Yoonjo, and Yooyoung. They were officially announced with a teaser image, along with an official website, Facebook, Twitter, Daum Cafe, and YouTube Channel on April 17, 2012. After a year of their debut, they held their first fan meeting on Sunday, February 24, 2013, with 200 fans at Seoul Hongdae V-hall. During the two and a half hour event, fans had a chance to get to know the Hello Venus’ members better. The event was titled “Hello Venus 1st Mini Fan Meeting I’m Your Venus”. Besides performing as a group, they show their performances and also a sub-unit. Then, in the same year, they held their first concert a year after the group debuted. The concert was held on June 22 and 23, 2013, and it succeeded in bringing in more than 900 fans who hysterical about welcoming the girl-group from the Pledis Entertainment agency. The group had a line of hits, such as Venus, Like a Wave, and Would You Like Some Tea?, and were happy and grateful for the success of their concert. There were a few special things that happened at the concert, including bringing in Ailee as a guest. She was greeted with surprise by many male fans there, and she performed the song “Heaven”. Hello Venus is said to be the most successful rookie or girl-group at the debut. But, unfortunately, their career journey only lasted seven years. After their last comeback, with “Mysterious” in 2017, their fans had to face the harsh reality that their beloved group would disperse on May 9, 2019, because their contract had ended and it was announced by Fantagio Entertainment. The agency issued an official statement regarding the career plans the members had for after the disbandment. Despite of their dissolution as a group, the agency said that members would still have a special relationship, and they would still be pursuing their solo careers. Nara and Alice chose to leave the agency on a positive note to pursue their dreams, but the other four members stayed with the same agency. Fantagio released profile photos and new stage names for Seoyoung, Yeoreum, Lime, and Yooyoung on July 12, 2019. Lime, formerly known as a rapper of the group, changed her name to Chae Joo-hwa and became an actress, Yooyoung changed her name to Lee Hwa-gyeom and, just like Chae Joo-hwa, she chose to be an actress after her appearance in the drama Who Are You: School 2015 and Circle. At the end of July, she returned play in the tvN drama, When the Devil Calls Your Name. she played a star idol, named Jo Ra In. Meanwhile, Seouyoung is using her real name, Lee Seo-young, and focused on a career as a musical actress. Previously, she appeared in Singin in the Rain season 8 as Miri, and she reprised the same role for the 9th season. In addition, she also played the role of Sunny in the musical Superman Emracing the Moon. The last member, Yeoreum, changed her name to Yoo Na-gyeol and also chose to focus on acting. The youngest member of Hello Venus hopes to reintroduce herself in her new capactiy and be well-received by the public.

SISTAR

SISTAR debuted in 2010 under Starship Entertainment. They debuted with the hit Push Push. The group consisted of four members: Hyolyn, Bora, Soyou, and Dasom. Because of the slow sales results and mediocre positions on the charts, SISTAR released a second promotional single, Shady Girl. The tempo of Push Push is more stomping compared to  to Shady Girl, despite being cheerful. They had a hip-hop style for the Push Push music video, but Shady Girl showed a more feminine and elegant side of the group. Their name skyrocketed when their third song, How Dare You, was released in November the same year. Although the release of the music video was delayed due to heated political problems between North and South Korea at the time, this song wiped out many charts, such as Melon, Mnet, Soribada, Bugs, Monkey3, and Daum Music, by sitting in the number one position. SISTAR also received a ‘Newcomer Award’ at the prestigious Golden Disk Awards. Three years after they first debuted, in the summer of 2013, they triumphed on many charts and sat in first place with the hit Give It To Me.  SISTAR had a sub-unit, named SISTAR19, made up of members Hyolyn and Bora, and they debuted in 2011, a year after SISTA’s debut. The group’s first single was Ma Boy, which was followed by a second single, Gone Not Around Any Longer, in January 2013. Just like Hello Venus, SISTAR’s career only lasted for seven years. The official announcement about their disbandment was made directly by the agency which oversees them, Starship Entertainment, who made the announcement after the group released their last album in May, 2017. Two of the members, Hyolyn and Soyou, would continue their music career as a solo singers, while Bora and Dasom were switching to acting. SISTAR is known as the “Summer Queens” because they always released hit songs in summer, such as So Cool, Loving U, Give It To Me, Touch My Body, Shake It, and I Like That.
