VIXX Group Profile
VIXX, which is under Jellyfish Entertainment, is now increasingly popular. Debuting in 2012, one by one the rung jumped by the six-member group to the peak of popularity. The members are Cha Hak-yeon (N), Jung Taek-woon (Leo), Lee Jae-hwan (Ken), Kim Won-sik (Ravi), Lee Hong-bin (Hongbin), and Han Sang-hyuk (Hyuk). VIXX was formed from a talent search event as well as a variety show titled MyDol. MyDol was a joint management project between Jellyfish Entertainment and Mnet that aired for a total of 8 episodes. Through this event, VIXX members who were still trainees were required to compete with other trainees. Through various missions in each episode, the ones who were superior would survive and those who were lacking would be eliminated. Names such as Sung Si-kyung and Brian Joo (Fly to the Sky) played a part in the selection of VIXX members. Of the ten Jellyfish’s trainees who competed in MyDol, six members were selected which then debuted as K-Pop idols on May 24th, 2012, under the name VIXX. VIXX stands for Voice, Visual, Value in Excelsis. Debuting with the song “Super Hero”, VIXX have now entered into the top Korean boy groups with thousands of fans (known as Starlight) from all over the world. Quality songs are increasingly making VIXX popular, songs like “On and On”, “Hyde”, “Voodoo Doll”, and many more. After debuting, VIXX got many schedules to attend several music programs broadcast on television and also plans to make a comeback every year by releasing albums, digital singles, and mini-albums. In mid-2014, VIXX made their official debut in Japan with the release of a full-length compilation album and managed to reach 10th place on the music chart on the Oricon selling 12,332 copies. After their Japanese debut, VIXX have been actively releasing Japanese versions of their tracks. VIXX is one of the boy groups that are still active today and continue to promote. However, in 2020 one of their members, Hongbin, decided to leave the group because of a drunken scandal that was seen when he was live streaming, and also Ravi who decided not to renew his contract with Jellyfish Entertainment, but will continue to promote with VIXX.
