On January 7, 2009, SNSD released the legendary hit song ‘Gee’. On that day, the album itself sold over 100.000 copies in domestically. Then, in June 2009, SNSD released their second EP, with the title track ‘Genie (Tell Me Your Wish). For this era, Seo Hyun slowly started to show her sexy side to the public, since duringn this comeback she was 20 years old. During the promotion of ‘Genie’, SNSD were the guests on a babysitting variety show created by KBS, called ‘Hello Baby’. The program is about an idol group who has to take care of a baby and toddler. In the show, SNSD got the chance to behave like the young mothers of a baby named ‘Kyung San’. Even though she didn’t get much solo promotion by SM, Seo Hyun finally got her first solo project awards at the 2009 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) for her OST song called ‘JjaLaJaJJa’. Her duet with veteran singer Jo Hyun Mi also got the award for ‘Trot Music of the Year’. Here is the music video. In December 2009, SM released a collaboration song between SNSD and Super Junior, called ‘Seoul Song’. In this music video, Seo Hyun was paired with SJ’s maknae, Kyuhyun.
