Twice-divorced Shahnawaz Amir was born to veteran journalist Ayaz Amir and wife Samina Shah. Together, both Shah and son lived on a farmhouse owned by the former in tony Chak Shahzad area of Islamabad. Shahnawaz married three times. Sara Inam, a 37-year-old Canadian national, was his third wife. Shahnawaz was nabbed by police on Friday for allegedly killing Sara who had arrived in Islamabad the day before from Dubai where she was working. Shah had alerted police after the suspect killed the woman, according to SHO Nawazish Ali Khan. The suspect locked himself in a room when police reached the scene of the crime: the Chak Shahzad farmhouse. He was held with blood splattered clothes after police broke into. An FIR of the incident has been lodged under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code — Punishment for Murder on the complaint of SHO Khan. The suspect reportedly forwarded a photograph featuring the deceased lying in a bathtub to father Ayaz, according to daily Jang. Shahnawaz detailed how he had struck Sara with a dumbbell laid nearby in his confession before police.

Senior journalist Ayaz Amir’s daughter-in-law has been murdered in the Chak Shahzad area of Islamabad. According to the spokesperson of the Islamabad Police, Ayaz Amir’s son Shahnawaz allegedly killed his wife Sara at home. Her body was found from a farmhouse. According to sources within the family, it had been just three months since Sara and Shahnawaz had been married. They met online, the sources said, adding that Sara worked in Dubai and had reached Pakistan just a day back and purchased a car. The couple reported got into an argument at night at the farmhouse where they were staying with Shahnawaz’s mother. The sources said Shah Nawaz hit Sara with an iron object and she fainted. After this, he reportedly moved her to a bathtub and opened the water tap. A forensic survey of the crime scene has been completed and the murder weapon and other evidence sent for analysis, the sources said, adding that Shah Nawaz’s mother witnessed everything and called the police. According to post mortem the slain wife of Shahnawaz Amir, Sara had wounds on her head, forehead and hands. Lady doctor conducted the post mortem of Sara’s body. The dead body is kept in hospitals cold storage. According to police the body will also be sent for forensic analysis. Sara’s family has also been contacted in canada. Police says they will register the FIR on family’s request. The senior journalist Ayaz Amir while talking to the media at Chak Shehzad Farm House said that he hoped that such an incident does not happen to anyone and that no one has to bear this trauma. Ayaz Amir was asked whether his son was drunk when he killed his wife. On which Ayaz Amir said that he cannot say anything about it. This is a legal matter.
