Lee Chae-yeon entered the Mnet reality competition show Produce 48 and managed to get a position in the girl-group that was formed, IZONE. The group debuted on October 29, 2018, with their first extended play, ColorIz. Meanwhile, Lee Chae-ryeong was introduced as a member of JYP Entertainment’s new girl group, ITZY. The group debuted on February 12, 2019 with their debut single album It’z Different, and its lead single “Dalla Dalla”. The two sisters embarked their idol journeys with their respective groups. K-Pop Star 3
In 2013, Lee Chae-yeon and Lee Chae-ryeong entered the K-Pop Star 3 competitions. At the time, they were only 13 and 12 years old. The sisters received a lot of love from viewers for their extraordinary talent in singing and dancing and for their cute image. Even though both sisters were eliminated from the competition show, they joined JYP Entertainment as trainees. From the show, we could see their closeness as sisters and their good work as a team. In 2015, JYP Entertainment and Mnet created a reality girl-group survival show called Sixteen. The show pitted sixteen JYP trainees against each other to secure places in the girl-group Twice. The contestants were assessed for not only their singing and dancing abilities, but also their charisma and personality. Lee Chae-yeon and Lee Chae-ryeong were two of the sixteen contestants. Lee Chae-yeon was eliminated after the second mission, while Lee Chae-ryeong lasted until the final round. However, she did not manage to join Twice and remained a trainee. The touching interaction between the sisters was when Lee Chae-yeon was eliminated. When JYP named her as the one who was being eliminated, Lee Chae-ryeong got teary eyes. When Lee Chae-yeon left the stage, Lee Chae-ryeong couldn’t hold back her tears and cried in silence.
