Nayeon’s Scene: The Princess Diaries (2001)

The first is Nayeon‘s makeover scene. She originally appeared as a nerd with thick glasses. But, after the makeover, Nayeon turned 180 degrees into a cute girl, and the other members were shocked by her beauty. This is a scene that was in the film The Princess Diaries (2001). This 2001 film was directed by Garry Marshall and adapted from Meg Cabot’s book of the same title. Here is the clip from the original movie:

The original main character in the film was portrayed by actress Anne Hathaway. But, in the parody scene for the “What Is Love” MV, Nayeon is also accompanied by other members such as Sana, Momo, Mina, and Jihyo.

Jeongyeon and Sana’s Scene: Ghost (1990)

The second one is Jeongyeon who made a parody out of a scene in the movie Ghost (1990). Although Jeongyeon is supposed to be doing a parody of the scene of Demi Moore, she also looks like the guy, Patrick Swayze. Jeongyeon along with Sana, played the iconic scene when Molly Jensen (Jeongyeon) is forming clay for pottery. Then, Sam Wheat (Sana) joins in. Here is the original clip from the movie!

Mina and Dahyun’s Scene: La Boum (1980)

Then, Mina gets to be the main star of the parody of the iconic French film La Boum/The Party (1980). Mina with her short hair looks so beautiful when doing the scene where she has headphones put on from behind by someone who turns out to be Dahyun. In the original scene, Sophie Marceau is enjoying herself at a disco. Suddenly, a guy gives a headset to her with a super romantic song. Momo and Tzuyu’s Scene: La La Land (2016)

Who doesn’t know the iconic dance scene on the hill with a colorful panorama in the film La La Land? When watching this video clip, surely everyone will immediately know that it was taken from the film La La Land. In TWICE’s version, Momo as Mia (Emma Stone) dances with Tzuyu as Sebastian (Ryan Gosling). Wearing a yellow dress that has become a film icon, Momo appears to be dancing seamlessly.

Chaeyoung and Dahyun’s Scene: Leon: The Professional (1994)

TWICE‘s rapper duo Chaeyoung and Dahyun collaborated for the parody scene of the film Leon: The Professional (1994). Chaeyoung plays Mathilda, a little girl whose family is murdered. She was later taken care of by an assassin (Leon). Dahyun played the role of Leon, the assassin himself. Mathilda is famous for her short bob hair while Leon is famous for his rounded glass. Sana and Tzuyu’s Scene: Pulp Fiction (1994)

Next, there is Sana who plays in the parody of the iconic film Pulp Fiction (1994). It is one of the best crime films by the director Quentin Tarantino. The film itself won the 1994 Oscar for best screenplay. Check out the original clip!

In the video clip, Sana plays Mia and Tzuyu plays as Vincent performing an iconic John Travolta-style dance move. Wearing a classy tux and t-shirt, both Sana and Tzuyu look as good as the people in the movie!

Jeongyeon and Tzuyu’s Scene: Romeo and Juliet (1996)

The pretty maknae Tzuyu turned into Juliet in the parody of the romantic film Romeo + Juliet (1996). There is the iconic scene when Romeo and Juliet stare at each other through an aquarium. Let’s see the original clip!

Tzuyu played Juliet gracefully while Jeongyeon played the handsome Romeo aka young Leonardo DiCaprio.

Jeongyeon and Jihyo’s Scene: Love Letter (1995)

Finally, there is Jihyo who takes on the role of Hiroko Watanabe from the all-time favorite Japanese romantic film Love Letter (1995). The iconic scene is when Watanabe, played by the leader of TWICE, screams asking about her boyfriend in the snow. Again, Jeongyeon appears to play the male co-star Itsuki Fuji.
