Dow married Carol Marlow in June 1969 and their marriage ended in 1980. They had one child, who was born in 1973. In June 1980, Dow married Lauren Shulkind. In the 1990s, Dow revealed that he had suffered from clinical depression. He subsequently starred in self-help videos chronicling this battle, including the 1998 Beating the Blues. Dow was also hospitalized with pneumonia in 2021. In May 2022, Dow was diagnosed with liver cancer. On July 26, 2022, after a premature report of Dow’s death, his family announced that he was alive at his home in Topanga, California. When ‘Leave It to Beaver’ went off-air in 1963, Dow started appearing in other television series, such as ‘Dr. Kildare,’ ‘The Eleventh Hour,’ ‘The Greatest Show on Earth,’ and ‘My Three Sons.’ From 1963 to 1965, he was seen in five episodes of a dramatic TV series titled ‘Mr. Novak.’ Tony Dow’s father, John Stevens Dow, Jr. worked as a general contractor and designer. His mother, Muriel Virginia Dow, was a stunt performer who worked as actress Clara Bow’s body double. Dow dated Carol Marie Theresa Marlow before marrying her on June 14, 1969.
