Gul hails from North Waziristan, born on 17 October 1984 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and to Ahmad Wazir, chief engineer of WAPDA and belongs to Wazir tribe. She obtained her early education in her native town Bannu and Miramshah before moving to Lahore with her family. She attended Queen Mary College for her undergraduate studies and then National College of Arts for her postgraduate studies. She did Textile Designing from National College of Arts. After completing her education, she joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and became a volunteer with Insaf Student Forum (ISF) in 2005. She moved to Dera Ghazi Khan after getting married in 2010. Gul ran for the seat of the National Assembly of Pakistan as a candidate of PTI from Constituency NA-172 (Dera Ghazi Khan-II) in 2013 Pakistani general election but was unsuccessful. She received 38,643 votes and lost the seat to Hafiz Abdul Kareem. She was elected to the National Assembly as a candidate of PTI from NA-191 (Dera Ghazi Khan-III) in 2018 Pakistani general election. She received 79,817 votes and defeated Awais Leghari. On 5 October 2018, she was inducted into the federal cabinet of Prime Minister Imran Khan and was appointed as Minister of State for Climate Change. In June 2019, Gul was widely criticized for using her position to influence NACTA in the appointment of her sister in the authority. Prime Minister Imran Khan took notice of the situation. The letter she wrote to NACTA for her sister’s appointment was withdrawn and the matter was resolved. Zartaj Gul is one of the beautiful female politicians of Pakistan. She is member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) political party. She was born in Bannu city and she belongs to a Pashtoon family. She hails from honorable Wazir Ahmad Zai tribe of FATA. Her father Gul Sheer Khan is an engineer, who completed engineering degree from Peshawar University. Her father served as a government officer in WAPDA. He retired as chief engineer of WAPDA. As Zartaj Gul belongs to tribal areas the thinking of people around her was very conservative. Her father was first government officer of the tribe and he also encouraged her daughter to get higher education. All of her siblings are also highly educated. She completed her early education from KPK and then moved to Lahore for higher studied. She studied in Queen’s Mary College, Lahore and obtained her Master’s degree from National College of Arts, Lahore. As a student of NCA she worked as a volunteer at Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital in 2005 and joined PTI. In 2010 Zartaj Gul got married with PTI member Humayun Raza Khan Akhwind at Dera Ghazi Khan. After that she worked for PTI with her husband and they were entitled as Golden Couple of PTI. She started her political career in 2013 by getting ticket in NA-172 but she lost by PML-N candidate Hafiz Abdul Kareem Kundi. However, in general elections 2018 she was elected to National Assembly of Pakistan from NA-191 (Dera Ghazi Khan-III) as a candidate of PTI by defeating PML-N candidate Awais Leghari. She is also known as Tigress of PTI.
